ASURE estimates the RNIIRS level for the image and provides a measurement of the percentage of shadow/no return and windsmear within an image

In order to correctly classify an image, the operator first sets up a texture library for the sensor. This consists of representative samples of various textures as detected by the sensor. This is done easily using the supplied graphical interface.

ASURE performs a texture-based classification of each image and then remaps the image based upon the classification. This remapped image is then analyzed and the results are made available to the operator. When viewing the image, the operator may elect to overlay the classification map and apply the clip point remapping.

System Requirements

ASURE works on both Linux and SGI platforms. It is designed for both real-time in-the-loop processing, and offline analysis. Its multi-threaded image processing library allows for greater performance in multi-CPU environments. On a 1.4 GHz P4 system running Linux ASURE averages 500,000 pixels per second.
ASURE can be operated via the GUI or command-line. Its JAVA-based GUI allows for remote control, image viewing, and results display. ASURE can read images saved in NITF, TIFF, and other file formats.
